New scholarship on offer thanks to Sarah Andrew & Jenny Polack
The inaugural Australian Women in Wine Awards results will be streamed live around Australia on Tuesday 17th November at 7:30pm AEDST to various satellite events all over the country. Organisers of the Melbourne celebration have decided to use the awards to create a scholarship to support a woman who wants to develop her career in the wine industry through further study.
The Melbourne celebrations will be happening at Papa Goose, 91 Flinders Lane between 630pm – 9pm. Organisers Sarah Andrew & Jenny Polack, both WSET Educators, have organised a raffle for the evening with various donated prizes from wineries, distributors and other businesses in the industry. Proceeds from the raffle will go towards a study scholarship for a woman in the wine / hospitality industry wishing to undertake WSET studies next year (Level 2 or Level 3).
Sarah Andrew of Selador Wines is herself a Finalist for the Owner/Operator of the Year Award, and wanted to use the awards night as an opportunity to show support to other women keen to develop their career in the industry. “Having studied the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) in London and the Sydney Wine Academy I know the value gained from these internationally recognised courses. I also know the expense behind these studies and now as a WSET educator at Wine House and William Angliss in Melbourne, I would like to support those wanting to take on these studies.”
To be eligible for this scholarship you need to be a woman working in the industry in Victoria, and be willing to commit to studies in 2016. Please email your one page application outlining how this award would assist your career to sarah@seladorwines.com by close of business on Tuesday 17th November 2015. Please include contact details in your application and one professional referee. The successful applicant will be notified on Tuesday 1st December 2015.
