Be part of shaping the future of women in wine in Australia.

After 10 years of impactful advocacy, community-building, and industry leadership as an advisory board, Australian Women in Wine (AWIW) is becoming an official not-for-profit company. We are now calling for expressions of interest to join our inaugural board of non-executive directors.

This is your opportunity to help lead an organisation dedicated to elevating, supporting and celebrating women across all areas of the Australian wine industry.

Non-Executive Director Board Roles Available

We are seeking the following voluntary positions:

• Chair – 1
• Secretary – 1
• Treasurer – 1
• General Board Members – 5

 

Key Areas of Focus

Our board will collectively provide strategic direction and oversight in the following areas:

• Governance & Compliance – ensuring effective organisational oversight and risk management.
• Finance – overseeing budgeting, reporting, and the organisation’s long-term financial health.
• Marketing & PR – driving brand presence, media relationships and communications.
• Events & Programs – supporting the delivery of national and regional initiatives, including the iconic Australian Women in Wine Awards.
• Advocacy & Partnerships – championing issues that matter to women in the industry and developing strategic collaborations.

 

Who We’re Looking For

We encourage applications from individuals with a passion for gender equity and the Australian wine industry. You may have experience in:

• Corporate governance or board leadership
• Financial management or accounting
• Marketing, PR or digital communications
• Event strategy and delivery
• Public policy or advocacy
• Fundraising, sponsorships or philanthropy
• Diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives

You do not need to have experience in all areas – we are building a diverse board with complementary skills.

Prior board or committee experience is highly desirable. As is significant career experience spanning several years (minimum) in the wine industry.

 

Commitment & Terms

• All positions are volunteer-based.
• Board members will be expected to commit to bi-monthly meetings (virtual) and occasional subcommittee work.
• The initial term is two years, with opportunity for renewal.
• You must be based in Australia and over 18 years of age.
