Let’s hear it for our Cellar Door women! They are so often the personalised face of the wine brand and the first experience customers have with the wines.

The Cellar Door Person of the Year Award recognises an outstanding cellar door employee, manager, operator, owner (or other relevant title) for their exceptional skills at the cellar door.

This award is proudly sponsored by

Janine Carter, Voyager Estate

Janine has spent her entire career as a communicator, and what a widely-diverse career it has been.  After studying broadcast journalism, Janine enjoyed four successful years with a Perth talkback radio station, working as a producer and journalist. A desire to see the world led to a decision to take a year abroad to Ireland, leading to a further four years in the UK.  There she worked primarily in public relations, most notably as Communications Manager for a hospice in Manchester for three years.  On returning to Australia in 2004, she immediately moved to Margaret River to work for the local newspaper, covering the news of the region, including the local wine industry.

In 2006, she took up a communications, membership and events role for the Margaret River Wine Industry Association and there decided the wine industry was where she belonged.  The MRWIA gave Janine a broad overview of the wine industry, and most obviously Margaret River wines, but this was  complemented with a role at Cloudy Bay Vineyards in Marlborough from 2007 to 2010.  As well as undertaking vintage work, these years gave her the opportunity to learn about New Zealand wines before Voyager Estate lured her home.

As Manager of Cellar Door & Direct Sales, Voyager Estate allows Janine to do what she does best – talk to people about wine, whether it’s to guests of the Estate, media or representatives of the wine and tourism industries.  As a director on the Board of the Margaret River Busselton Tourism Association, Janine has a commitment to ensuring Voyager Estate’s strategic direction promotes Margaret River as a world-class wine region.

Jasmine Morgan, Caudo Vineyard

Jasmine sparked her love for wine during her gap year out of high school as a vintage cellar hand in 2011. She dropped out of an architectural degree to pursue a career at Caudo Vineyard, an emerging innovative cellar door in the Riverland. She hasn’t looked back since.

As cellar door manager, she has brought a young, vibrant vibe to the business and works hard to develop an exceptional team of staff through leadership. What she lacks in qualifications, she has certainly more than made up for in dedication, effort and passion for the cellar door and her role in the industry.

Sharyn Stagg, Josef Chromy Wines

Sharyn Stagg is a cellar door professional and hospitality industry veteran of 17 years, following 10 years service as a Commonwealth Bank loans manager with specialist skills in upselling.   Since 2013, Sharyn has worked at the cellar door of Tasmania’s Josef Chromy Wines, a family-owned wine business and one of only two Tasmanian members of Tourism Australia’s prestigious ‘Ultimate Winery Experiences Australia Program ‘.

For Sharyn, the cellar door is the ideal platform to welcome guests from all over the globe, providing them with exceptional service in a fast-paced, high-traffic environment, and sharing the inspiring story of founder Josef Chromy OAM.  Sharyn is a strong supporter of Tasmania as a new frontier for wine, producing extraordinary cool-climate wines on the edge of the world.

Striving for continuous improvement, Sharyn completed her WSET Level 2 qualification in 2016.  Sharyn prides herself on maintaining exceptional wine knowledge and representing the Josef Chromy Wines brand to the best of her ability.
