The Australian Women in Wine Awards – which are operated by The Fabulous Ladies’ Wine Society – welcomes Sarah Andrew to the advisory board for 2017.
Sarah is a highly respected Australian wine show judge and global WSET educator, and has been a passionate advocate of women in wine. She was also a finalist in the inaugural 2015 Women in Wine awards in the Owner/Operator Award category.
Sarah operated her own wine consultancy, Selador Wines, for 11 years before joining Fine Wine Partners as Business Manager of Fine Wine & Education in 2016. Sarah is actively involved in Sommeliers Australia, is on the Victorian Committee (Vice President) and is also on the Victorian Committee for Wine Communicators of Australia.
For the previous two years, Sarah has organised and raised funds for a WSET scholarship for women. These scholarships were awarded at the Australian Women in Wine Awards (AWIWA) winners announcement evenings in 2015 and 2016, which Sarah also organised and hosted in Melbourne.
“In the 12 years I have been working in the Australian wine industry I have experienced challenges being a woman in this industry and seen a void of women in senior roles” said Sarah. “I am now in a position to be able to encourage, support and guide the next generation of women in the industry, to champion fairness and identify female talent. I look forward to working alongside the AWIWA board in this capacity.”
Sarah joins the following members to make up the AWIWA advisory board for 2017 – Samantha Connew, Rebekah Richardson, Toni Carlino, Corrina Wright, Jeni Port and Jane Thomson (chair).
Jane Thomson, founder of the AWIWA & The Fabulous Ladies’ Wine Society, said that she is thrilled and honoured to have Sarah’s talents and enthusiasm on the board this year.
